Help find the owner of this 1964 East TN Class Ring

Help find the owner of this 1964 ring

Friends, I need your help.

My husband has found an old ring and I’d love your assistance in finding the owner.

Keith has been finding treasures these last few months as he enjoys the waterways in our new home in East Tennessee.

A popular activity in this area—made more interesting this time of year when the water level is down and more stuff becomes exposed—is searching the shoreline for fishing lures.

Keith often finds himself beside water at lunch, so he and whoever he is traveling with search for treasures.

They have found lots of lures, bobbers, and other unexpected gems, including a laptop, multiple phones, wonderfully shaped pieces of driftwood, and even an electric guitar and strap.

We did wonder how a laptop and a guitar made their way into the Tennessee River.

Those must have made for interesting dinner-time conversations . . .

Last week my hubby made a really interesting find, though: a 1964 Greeneville, TN, high school ladies class ring, which you see pictured above.

The initials J. H. are engraved in script inside the ring, and this jewelry is in pretty good shape in spite of its time in the river.

I haven’t been able to locate the owner as yet.

This coming summer will mark the 50th anniversary of this woman’s high school graduation.

Plus, it’s almost Christmas.

I think it would be especially nice to get the ring back home where it belongs.

Can you help me?

  5. I love how your hubby looks for treasure along the shores of Knoxville, Kim! I’m a treasure hunter too, but like to do it in the comfort of a heated or air conditioned antique store! ha! I will get my FIL involved in this too, since he’s a life-long Knoxville resident. My MIL and FIL have a lot of time on their hands as retired folks, so thinking through and sleuthing about this J.H. might give them something new and fun to do! Hope it helps! And can’t wait to see you soon, but for now, in the words of Amy Grant, have a wonderful “Tennessee Christmas!”

Thanks for your help, and a very merry Christmas to you, too!

  6. My husband, Japhet has always enjoyed the simple things in life. Whether it be in search of ‘treasure’ or just for the serenity nature provides. That’s one of the things I admire most about him. It’s easy to get caught up in the stress of life but just as easy to slow down and enjoy the view. I hope you find the owner of the ring. Perhaps it will be a small Christmas miracle for someone this year. Best wishes!

  7. Hi Kim,
