Five Minute Friday-Unexpected

I’m good.

I’m fine.

No, thanks. I got it.

I am independent, proud and a go getter who likes to do things on her own.

I don’t need any help.

Oomph.

{Stumbles, falls to ground}

What was that?

A bump in the road, a marriage that needs more than you think you can give, a child who requires more patience than you ever imagined, a job that pulls you far from home too much of the time.

Thwack. Thawack.

{Holds hand to head, grimaces}

What was that?

Life, hitting hard, relentless, never offering a respite.

Shhhhhh. I am here for you. Let me help. Here, take my hand.

{Drops to knees in surprise and surrender}

What was that?

It is the gentle sound of His grace, the unexpected gift of His love, always there, always ready to hold you close, no matter what.

No matter how far you have strayed or how long you;ve been gone, always there to lift you up and hold you close while the storms blow by.

If you stop and listen, you will find Him in the most unexpected places in your life, when you think you least deserve His forgiveness.

Breathe. Pray. Look. And He is there.

Every Friday I join Lisa-Jo over at The Gypsy Mama for her Five Minute Friday prompts. It’s an opportunity for each of us to stop, drop, and write.
We write bold and beautiful and free. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not.

Won’t you join us? Follow the link above to read and be encouraged by what others have to share. We’d love to hear from you as well, so feel free to leave a comment today. Thanks for coming by!

  3. Thanks ladies. Glad that the words I hear in my head resonate with you!
    Too often, I get busy running around, yelling “Self! Self!” just like I did as a toddler, and than-whump!-I’m back on the ground, hands up, asking for help.
